About/How to Include Math
This weblog is for sharing mathematical ideas. I will try to post regularly what I am interested in, and what I am thinking about. I earnestly invite comments from others. I will make an effort to be precise, but in the interest of creativity will also periodically post things that are patently ridiculous.
With the advent of MathOverflow, it is now unnecessary to use this blog as a place to collect questions. I’d like to imitate the spirit of Qiaochu’s blog, as it seems useful to have such a place to collect your thoughts, write about what you understand and don’t understand. Anything that comes up that is as sharp as a question will end up on MO.
For me the idea is to write a bit every day, with the intent of eventually publishing polished posts to the web. Initially the audience I am writing for is myself, but when I think the content is of broader value, I will make it public. When what I have written is made public, I am doing so for it to be valuable for the community and so that it may serve a searchable record of my take on mathematics.
This blog is hosted at http://wordpress.com. I highly recommend this site, since in particular it enables the use of LaTeX typesetting to include math symbols in your posts. Here’s how to do it: Enclose latex [your command here] with dollar signs, where of course you write the latex command in place of [your latex command]…and exclude the square brackets. If you’d like to make a comment that requires mathematical notation, and are an undergraduate or are for some other reason unfamiliar with LaTeX, there is a simple tutorial at the art of problem solving wiki:
